The Opportunity:
We are seeking a Junior Data Analyst to support the continued growth, integrity, and impact of Just Capital’s data. This role will be instrumental in strengthening the organization’s ability to produce high-quality, trusted data on corporate behavior and performance across 1,000 of the largest U.S. companies. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Data Operations & Analytics, the Junior Data Analyst will contribute to the full data lifecycle, from data collection and validation to analysis and visualization, helping to ensure our data remains accurate, consistent, and actionable.

Working closely with colleagues across research, data, and technology teams, this role will support the maintenance and enhancement of internal datasets and data tools, review company-submitted feedback, and help translate complex data into meaningful insights. The Junior Data Analyst will also play a key role in advancing data standards, improving data quality processes, and identifying opportunities to scale impact through better use of data.

Expectations & Responsibilities:

Be a key player in elevating the use of and confidence in best-in-class Just data:

  • Collect data from publicly available sources on specific topics related to just corporate behaviors and activities for 1,000 companies
  • Conduct data quality assurance checks throughout the data lifecycle, ensuring accuracy and consistency
  • Support the maintenance and management of datasets and metadata across various internal data tools, including AI-driven tools. This includes updating records, monitoring data quality, and assisting with routine data operations to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Review and assess company-submitted feedback on datasets throughout the year, verify accuracy, and update internal systems and data products as needed.
  • Prepare summary statistics, analysis, and data visualization in support of other teams (including liaising with the tech team)
  • Coordinate across teams’ data requirements and use cases; identify and empower sources of leverage to drive scale in pursuing Just Capital's mission
  • Partner with other teams to enhance the data platform and provide analytical support; help find ways for data to have an impact
  • Support with generating insights from user behavior data, forming the basis for new product features
  • Help establish data standards for analytical data over business terms, business definitions, enterprise code sets, data elements, and business rules
  • Leverage tools like SQL and Python for effective data querying, analysis, and visualization

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Approximately 1–3 years of relevant experience in data analysis, research, or a related field; a strong interest in corporate behavior or mission-driven work aligned with Just Capital’s goals is a plus.
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL and Python, with experience in querying, cleaning, and transforming datasets.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data quality, with experience conducting QA checks and ensuring accuracy and consistency across datasets.
  • Experience working with structured datasets and metadata, including maintaining, updating, and documenting data assets.
  • Analytical mindset with the ability to synthesize large datasets into summary statistics, insights, and compelling narratives for diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and operate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate cross-functionally and explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively across teams, identify opportunities to improve processes, and contribute to scalable data solutions.
  • Curiosity and initiative to explore new data sources, tools, and methods, including leveraging user behavior data to inform product and analytical improvements.
  • Understanding of data governance concepts such as data standards, definitions, and business rules is a plus.
Location: New York, NY – Four days a week in the office
 
Compensation: $65,000 to $72,000 annually
